U-In SMS Program

Last updated: April 20, 2026

What is U-In?

U-In is a golf event management and live scoring platform. Club organizers create events and invite members to participate. Players receive their event invitations and personal scoring links via SMS.

What Messages Will You Receive?

  • Event invitations — a link to confirm your participation in an upcoming golf event.
  • Scoring links — a personal link to enter your scores when the round begins.
  • Event updates — confirmation of your RSVP status.

How Do You Opt In?

Users opt in via a web form at u-in.net (registration page reached from the SMS invitation link). On that form, the user must check an explicit, unchecked-by-default consent checkbox agreeing to receive SMS messages from U-In before they can submit. The form cannot be submitted unless the checkbox is checked. Consent is recorded in our system with a timestamp. You will not receive ongoing messages until you have completed this opt-in step.

🔗 Try the live opt-in form yourself:

A fully interactive, publicly accessible replica of this exact form is available at https://u-in.net/sample-signup. You can interact with the form, observe that the consent checkbox is unchecked by default, and verify that the submit button is disabled until you check it. No data is saved and no SMS is sent from the sample form.

The screenshot below shows the exact opt-in form users see — the consent checkbox starts unchecked and the submit button is disabled until it is checked:

Message Flow

No SMS messages are sent to a user before they have completed the digital opt-in described above. The first SMS a user ever receives from U-In arrives only AFTER they have checked the consent box on the web registration form.

The complete flow from registration to first message:

  1. A golf club administrator shares a registration link with the member via email or in person — never as an SMS.
  2. The member visits the registration page at u-in.net and completes the form, including checking the unchecked-by-default SMS consent checkbox shown above.
  3. The member's consent is recorded with a timestamp. Only at this point does the user become eligible to receive SMS from U-In.
  4. On the day of the event, the consented member receives a scoring link SMS:
U-In: Hey John! Saturday Scramble is teeing off now. Enter your scores here: https://u-in.net/event/42/score?ep=abc123 Reply STOP to opt out.
  5. For future events, the consented member may receive an event invitation SMS:
U-In: Hey Mike! You're invited to Member Guest Tournament on Fri, Jun 6 at Riverside CC. Reply YES to confirm or NO to decline. Reply STOP to opt out.
  6. No further messages are sent unless the user remains opted-in. STOP at any time ends all messages immediately.

Message Frequency

Message frequency varies. You will typically receive 2–3 messages per golf event you participate in (one invitation and one scoring link). Message and data rates may apply.

How to Opt Out

Reply STOP to any message from U-In at any time. You will receive a confirmation and no further messages will be sent.
